August 29, 2009 - Barcelona PM

By 2 o'clock it was time to begin heading for the airport to pick up our car for the drive to Port Stiges. John got a great deal on a car using SIXT car rental! We drove right along the magnificent coast on a twisty, windy, cliff based road! The sun was shining and we were psyched!! We stopped in the first town, went to the beach and Cheri promptly put her feet in the Med; oh so warm!! We carried on to Port Stiges and found that by dumb luck Betty and Cheri had scored big! We had a little suite right on the water in a marina.

That night Christina went out with friends whilst John, Betty, and Cheri went in town. They shopped and ate at a marvelous little Italian place!

August 29, 2009 - Barcelona AM

That morning we walked down Las Ramblas, one of the most famous streets in Barcelona just to see what it was all about! We watched all of our things very closely as this area is pick pocket heaven! The tree lined street was packed with tourists, performers and locals who were out enjoying the day!

August 29, 2009 - Barcelona 2 - Afternoon

That afternoon we found a bus back to the main part of the city and had a bite and some beers. That night we ate down near the water at a local's restaurant. Paella - yummy!

John had a great time taking photos of the interesting building art!

Enjoy!

August 29, 2009 - Barcelona 2 - Morning

We awoke a bit late to a glorious day without a cloud in the sky. The hotel offered a full breakfast for €10 per person which John and Cheri gladly scoffed down. Betty and Christina elected to walk a bit and find something on the way.

The hop-on, hop-off bus seemed like the best way to get the lay of the land and we jumped on the green like. It was hot, hot, hot and by the time we reached Parc Guell it we were all ready to hop off permanently and find some ice cream!

Parc Guell is not to be missed. If there is one thing you can say unequivocally about Barcelona – it’s Gaudi! Examples of his work can be found all around the place; very fun to look at and all the rage in the 1920’s. Lots of aspiring musicians can be found in the park. We ran across a guy playing his drum, making the most incredible sounds that had you not seen it you would swear he was playing wind instruments and guitars! Cheri bought a CD. Yeah – touristo!!

August 28, 2009 - Barcelona 1

We finally made it to Barcelona and ticked another location off our list! Flying in on Thursday evening with Betty and Christina gave us what felt like another day in Spain, evening though it was only an evening.

We arrived at the hotel around 11:30, just missing the last of the room service. Being that we skipped dinner in favour of a dinner upon arrival we had no choice but to forge for food.

With strong warnings from the hotel desk we elected to walk three blocks down to what amounted to a local diner. Paella for Christina and Cheri, gambas al ajoli for Betty and a steak for John; sated it was time for bed.

Enjoy!!

August 23, 2009 - Cheri & Betty do Camden Town!

Cheri and Betty decided to check out Camden Town whilst John went biking and Christina slept in! What a great place. It used to be a stables area and they have lots of great horse statues to keep their history alive! Betty bought some cute clothes and we split a burrito for lunch!

August 16, 2009 - Amsterdam

Hi Everyone-

John and Cheri snuck away for a weekend in Amsterdam. The weather was fine and we really enjoyed the city with all the canals! the first day we took a boat ride and thought - my this is a big place. The second day we walked all over and realised it's quite a small place - just the canals go in circles!

The buildings were really interesting to look at and John shot some really cool art on them.
Enjoy!

August 8, 2009 - A Walk in the Park - Richmond

Hi

Everyone!

We finally had a day of summer! It was August 8th and it was a perfect summer day - 80 degrees and sunny with very little wind. It felt as if the whole world was out enjoying the day. After careful consideration of all the options we elected to go for a 6 hour walk in Richmond Park.

Britain is known for it's butterflies and we decided to see if we could find some. The flowers are ever changing in the park and we shot them too! Isabella plantation was a alive with a new set of flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. On the way to Isabella we also saw a green wood pecker, rabbits, jays and other birds. We've updated the website at http://www.cherylawarren.com/richm/index.html if you want to see some more of the images.

Hugs-
John & Cheri
