Monday, September 19 – Fairmont Hot Springs to Glacier National Park, MT

This was a "get-up early and get on the road "morning. The car was packed and we were on the road by 7:50 am. We went to the bakery we were longing to go to, only to find that they were closed on Monday. Dang. We quickly nixed the idea of another $5 golf club breakfast. The grocery market wasn't open. We ended up trying the subway in the gas station. The young woman who waited on us was not having a good day. We asked about the breakfast subs, and she just pointed us to the sign on the wall around the corner, which gave the options for egg or egg white omelets with different meat and cheese options. Dottie ordered an Italian Parmesan cheese roll with an egg omelet. The girl pointed to the sign and told me to pick which roll I wanted. Looking at the sign, Dottie read off a “Italian herb Parmesan cheese roll," which seemed to satisfy her.  She picked up 2 pre made egg white circular omelets from the container and started making the sub. Dottie reminded her that she wanted the egg not the egg white omelet. She said, "that's all we have".  Dottie looked at Cheri and said, “Cheri you want this?”  Cheri of course said “Yes!”  Whew, got outta there!

We carried on down the road and found an amazing little breakfast place.  The food was wonderful and we all pigged out!  Then it was time to head for the border.  The ride was smooth and before we knew it we were across the border.

We finally got some lunch at an A&W root beer place.  Drivers choice!  It was darling and the guy who took our order, Chris, was gunning to be a supervisor and he was very friendly!

We got to our new cabin and it was perfect!  John elected to stay in and rest after all the driving.  Dottie, Cheri and Paul decided to venture into the park.  We enjoyed the first leg of the "Going to the Sun Road".  We rode along Lake McDonald for awhile.  The waterfalls were flowing and the views were wonderful!

We got back to the cabin and whipped up some spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner.
